Two years ago Palo Alto city officials said they planned to craft a new ordinance to prohibit sleeping in cars overnight. But a cat-and-mouse game of vehicle shifting on city streets continues to frustrate residents and businesses.

Suicide 'psychological autopsies' planned
"Psychological autopsies" of Palo Alto students who died by suicide will be conducted to "try to understand the youth suicides that have occurred here," according to community members involved in responding to a "cluster" of suicides last year.

Palo Alto police release sketch in juvenile-assisted burglaries
Palo Alto police have provided more details and released a sketch in a search for a young boy and adults engaged in a residential-burglary spree in Palo Alto in the past month. Detective Brian Philip said a boy who looks about 10 years old was confronted inside one home and seen jumping from the window of another, and adults have been in the area. Mixed bag on SC County residents' health
Santa Clara County residents are improving their health in some areas and losing ground in others. A recent report on public health in the county reveals that low-income and minority communities have higher instances of disease, and are more likely to engage in unhealthy behavior and have poor diets.

Palo Alto temple holds Obon Festival this weekend
The Palo Alto Buddhist Temple will celebrate the Obon Festival for the 62nd time this weekend. Events begin Saturday (July 31) at 5 p.m. with a musical performance by members of the temple. They continue on Sunday, concluding with a traditional Bon Odori dance in the evening.

SPORTS: Top seed Stosur beats McHale at Stanford
Samantha Stosur has always been known as one of the top doubles players on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour. Now she's highlighting her singles play. The 26-year-old Australian reached a career-best No. 5 on July 5. Playing in her first tournament since breaking into the Top 5, Stosur beat qualifier Christina McHale, 6-1, 7-5 at the Bank of the West Classic Wednesday.
