Children's Theatre probe dropped, chief says
The criminal investigation of the Palo Alto Children's Theatre is over, Police Chief Lynne Johnson announced in a statement today. Although police have evidence of "serious financial misconduct and other possible criminal activity," there isn't proof "beyond a reasonable doubt at this time," Johnson wrote. (Thursday, 2:31 PM)

SPORTS: Paly's Diepenbrock leaves for Caņada College basketball job
Only a lucky few ever get the chance to coach a high school basketball team to a state championship. Peter Diepenbrock is one of those lucky ones. His 2005-06 Palo Alto boys' squad that went 32-1 and captured NorCal and CIF State Division II crowns was one for this prep history books. Diepenbrock, however, has closed that chapter in his coaching career and will begin a new one, as head coach of the Caņada College men's basketball team.
