Palo Alto police release sketch in juvenile-assisted burglaries
Palo Alto police have provided more details and released a sketch in a search for a young boy and adults engaged in a residential-burglary spree in Palo Alto in the past month. Detective Brian Philip said a boy who looks about 10 years old was confronted inside one home and seen jumping from the window of another, and adults have been in the area. Santa Clara County residents are improving their health in some areas and losing ground in others. It wasn't entirely a fluke that Stanford University graduate student Keith Bechtol ran his very first marathon Sunday -- and won. The lanky, freckle-faced astrophysicist has been running for 11 years, and calls the Palo Alto-area trail network "incredible." Related stories:

Palo Alto temple holds Obon Festival this weekend
The Palo Alto Buddhist Temple will celebrate the Obon Festival for the 62nd time this weekend. Events begin Saturday (July 31) at 5 p.m. with a musical performance by members of the temple. They continue on Sunday, concluding with a traditional Bon Odori dance in the evening. (Wednesday, 12:57 PM)
