About Kathy Aronson
Aronson has enjoyed photography as a hobby for 15 years, but
she really got into it about four years ago, after her children
were born.

"My
Meghan is extremely photogenic," she said. The photo is actually
of her daughter and her husband's uncle -- rather than a grandfather
-- but the mood that struck Aronson was the gap of generations.
"When I took it I just took it, but when I printed it, I
saw the young and the old. And I liked how that looked,"
she said.
Aronson has been taking a class through the Mountain view adult
education program for the past year and a half. It has really
inspired her. "Now I try a lot of different techniques,"
she said.
For this photo, she shot at a slow speed -- which she prefers
-- and used a filter to create a softer look. She also used fiber-based
paper when printing, creating added texture and quietness.
She entered the contest because people kept commenting on her
photos, which keep improving in quality. Aronson said, "A
lot of people ask me if I take professionally, but I don't want
to do that because it would take away the fun."
