Paintings by Terri Ford
California-landscape paintings are on display until Nov. 28 at Viewpoints Gallery, 315 State St. in Los Altos.
The "New Works" exhibit of pastel paintings by award-winning artist Terri Ford features plein air works from around the Bay Area as well as other picturesque locations, local and abroad. Subjects include pristine hills and old barns and bridges.

Palo Alto Philharmonic Association
The Palo Alto Philharmonic Association is kicking off its 21st season with a chamber concert of beloved composers at the Palo Alto Arts Auditorium, Saturday Nov. 15 at 8 p.m.
The program opens with "Six Variations of 'Ich Denke Dein," Beethoven's piano duet, reimagining of Goethe's poem of absent love. It will be followed by Francois Borne's "Carmen Fantasie" for flute and piano, Bach's "Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major" and Schubert's "Quintet in A Major" for piano, violin, viola, cello and bass.
The auditorium is located at 1313 Newell Road, Palo Alto. Tickets are $17 for general admission, $15 for seniors and $8 for students and are available at the door or at www.paphil.org.

"The Sound of Music"
The hills are alive with "The Sound of Music" as the Peninsula Youth Theater presents the musical Nov. 15 to 23 at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts, 500 Castro St. in Mountain View.
The well-known story of the free-spirited nun, the buttoned-down Baron von Trapp and his family, and their escape from the Nazi forces is brought alive by local youth from Menlo Park to Sunnyvale.
Performances are at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 and 22; 1 and 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16; 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21; and 1 p.m. Nov. 23. Tickets are $7 to $18 and can be ordered at www.pytnet.org or by calling 903-6000.
Robert Wilson
Tireless TV mogul Ted Turner will be reading from and signing his new memoir Wednesday Nov. 19 at Crowne Plaza Cabana, 4290 El Camino Real in Palo Alto.
"Call Me Ted" tells Turner's story from his difficult childhood to his ultimate success as entrepreneur, founder of CNN and TBS, and philanthropist, including musings on his tumultuous marriage to Jane Fonda.
